Welcome to Learning Africa, a site that offers support for teachers wishing to explore Africa in the classroom.

This site provides a series of classroom activities and learning resources which draw on and help to address the issues raised by the Commission for Africa report published earlier this year.

The report is entitled Our Common Interest, as it is in everyone's interest to make Africa more secure, prosperous and peaceful.

The report highlights the many challenges facing Africa and identifies what actions are needed. Six key themes are identified by the report: governance, peace and security, investing in people, poverty reduction, trade and resources. The Commission considers these issues to be interlinked and so must be tackled together.

This site explores these six themes through a series of posters and classroom activities. These are supported by a series of case studies and a guide to what the Our Common Interest report says. Further ideas and resources for learning about Africa are also provided.

If you would like to register your interest in Learning Africa and receive updates on how the site is progressing please use the contact link below.

Please also contact us and let us know which activities and resources you have used, how you have used them and how successful they have been.
